Purpose

Two years after the founding of St Peter’s College in 1847, a formal act of parliament confirmed the incorporation of our Anglican School with the express purpose of teaching the Holy Scriptures and the principles of Christian religion in the context of a modern, broad and liberal education. In so doing, the Act also defined that the advantages of the educational program on offer were to be provided to students from Anglican and non-Anglican families alike.

This purpose set the course for St Peter’s College to be an inclusive, morally formative institution that forever strives to challenge students to be their best and serve the wider community through selflessness.

Anglican Framework

Our Anglican foundation provides a powerful and useful platform on which to build an education. Through our Anglican foundation we raise an understanding of our Anglican heritage, teach the Christian faith and commend a life of Christian discipleship while respecting the religious diversity of our community. Because we are Anglican, we are called to serve others, ‘Pro Deo et Patria’. Therefore we provide authentic and relational service learning programs that promote personal growth and benefit the wider community. Long after graduation your son will recall these service responsibilities as some of his most important educational learnings.

SERVICE LEARNING PROGRAM

Our Vision

Our vision is to be an exceptional community of learning.

Exceptional – because a diverse range of students should find their niche in our community and exceptional, because standards matter. Each and every day we should be asking our students to jump higher. If we set high expectations for young people, more often than not, they will rise to meet them.

Community – because everything we undertake is relational and requires a team effort. We want our students to experience being part of something far greater than themselves.

Learning – because our desire is that all members of our community are placed on a pathway to growth.

(For God and For Country)

Being ‘for God’ means we are for truth. Being ‘for Country’ means we are for the service of our wider community.

Our Values

It is from our motto that our two core values of truth and service emanate. At St Peter’s College we connect the pursuit of truth and the service of others through relationships and therefore our third value is respect.

Truth

We pursue truth that we might live lives of integrity; we are led by truth to engage with God, the world and others with courage and kindness.

Respect

We value each person and their place in the rich web of life.

Service

We understand that the world is a community in which order and wisdom must prevail in order to serve life for all beings in a sustainable way; St Peter’s College seeks to serve the needs of our wider community.

Our Mission

Our mission is captured in our School Prayer which outlines all we aspire to be in every pursuit.

Look with favour, we pray thee,
O Father Almighty,
upon this our School and grant that its foundations
may ever stand firm in truth and righteousness,
that beauty, order and reverence
may be the message of its walls and fields;
and that so long as one stone remains upon another
it may stand for all things that are strong and lovely
and of good report, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
