Our Commitment

Previous Page

At St Peter’s College we are committed to providing a safe and engaging learning environment, in which all boys can flourish. The wellbeing of our boys is fundamental to everything we do as a school. All boys should feel able to make the most of every opportunity that the School provides and do so in a supportive and secure surrounding.

Should any member of the School Community, past or present, have a concern about student wellbeing, either current or historical, there are several avenues to address that concern.

Concerns about the wellbeing of current students:

There is a range of people you may contact about the wellbeing of current boys:

In addition, the following School policies provide further information:

In the event of a concern of a serious nature, it may be appropriate to contact the South Australian Police (SAPOL) on 131 444. Mandatory reporting requirements apply where those concerns relate to the abuse of a minor and these requirements will be supported by the School.

Concerns about the wellbeing of past students:

For concerns relating to the wellbeing of past students, particularly in relation to child protection and child abuse, it may be appropriate to contact the South Australian Police (SAPOL) on ph 131 444. In addition you may wish to contact the Headmaster (smurray@stpeters.sa.edu.au +61 8 8404 0407) or the Chairman, Council of Governors (josephethorp@gmail.com). Again, mandatory reporting requirements apply where those concerns relate to the abuse of a minor, and these requirements will be supported by the School.

In addition, the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide may also be of assistance through its Professional Standards Office. This office is separately located and operates at “arm’s length” to both the Church leadership and church schools. It can provide a contact point for those who wish to raise concerns or report abuse. The Professional Standards Director will not seek to discourage the pursuit of claims through legal processes, but can offer pastoral support and practical assistance to people who have suffered abuse.

The Professional Standards Director in the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide can be contacted on +61 8 8305 9363 / 8366 6589 psdirector@adam.com.au
