Renewing Play | A New Playground
At St Peter’s College, we believe in the transformative power of play. In 2026, we are renewing the Junior School playground to enrich and future-proof this vital space for the next generation of learners. Playgrounds are far more than equipment. They are places where friendships form, resilience is built, and boys are free to move, imagine and explore. They support cognitive, physical, and social-emotional growth, all of which are essential to a boy’s overall wellbeing.

The new playground, in the Years 3 and 4 area, will be carefully designed to reflect the evolving needs of boys this age, providing developmentally appropriate physical challenges and opportunities for creative, collaborative play. It will also reflect the identity of the Junior School as a place that nurtures courage, curiosity and community. For many families, this is a space their sons already know and enjoy; for others, it is one they will grow into and benefit from in the years ahead.
We are committed to offering an environment that evolves alongside our students and the renewal of this play space is a visible expression of that care. Mr Ben Storer, Deputy Head of Junior School – Wellbeing and Administration, observes:
“Play is vital to a child’s wellbeing and the development of life skills. Outdoor play encourages an active, healthy lifestyle and supports the growth of confident, connected young boys.”
To help bring this project to life, the St Peter’s College Foundation will match gifts dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000. This means every gift before 30 June will go twice as far in supporting the renewal of this much-loved Junior School space.
Gifts of any amount are warmly welcomed and all donations are fully tax-deductible when made through the Australian Sports Foundation, which will transfer the funds directly to St Peter’s College for this specific project.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our Junior School. Together, let’s create a playground that inspires courage, curiosity and connection for generations of boys to come.
