The Importance of Showing Gratitude

Recently I received an email from a student I taught during their time in the Junior School thanking me for being a part of their learning journey as they moved through St Peter’s College. They were just about to sit their final exams and have been an outstanding member of our school community. While I was just a small part of their journey moving through their education, this email had a big impact on me. It gave me a chance to think back to the time when this student had been in my class and the pride in receiving this email of gratitude to say that I had a positive impact on their education. It reminded me of the Maya Angelou quote “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” I hope that all of our students at St Peter’s College will find a community that will make them feel safe, supported, loved and cared for.

As this year draws to a close it is an important time to show our gratitude to each other and the journey that we have been on in 2022. We can reminisce on the challenges of starting the year online, the successes that we have had throughout the year and the learning experiences that will continue to provide important connections to our School Values of Truth, Respect and Service. I would like to say a warm thank you to all our community at St Peter’s College and I feel a deep sense of pride in all that has been achieved by this community.
