Honouring Service | Preserving Legacy
On the grounds of our School, nestled among near two centuries of tradition, stands a building that holds more than bricks and mortar – it holds memory. Memorial Hall, opened in 1929 and rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1985, was conceived as a noble and lasting tribute to the ‘the Sons of this School’, our old scholars and staff who served and sacrificed during the First World War.

From its earliest days, the Hall was intended not just as an architectural landmark, but as a living symbol of courage, loyalty and service – a space to honour the past while shaping the character of future generations.
For almost 100 years, Memorial Hall has served as the heart of school life – a sacred gathering place for assemblies, services, concerts and celebrations. Yet time takes its toll, even on our most cherished spaces. Preserving and renewing Memorial Hall is about more than conservation; it is about safeguarding the spirit and story of St Peter’s College.
The Memorial Hall Fund has been established to support the ongoing care, enhancement and long-term future of this treasured building. This perpetual fund will ensure the Hall remains a beacon within the School’s heritage precinct – a place of reverence and pride for generations to come.
When fire destroyed Memorial Hall in 1985, the newly established Foundation launched its first major fundraising appeal which not only rebuilt the Hall, but also laid the foundation for a culture of philanthropy that continues to shape our School.
Now, as we honour the legacy of that moment, we invite you to join us in this act of perpetual stewardship. By supporting the Memorial Hall Fund, you will help ensure that current and future students will walk through its doors, share in its spirit and carry forward its message of honour, remembrance and community.
