The 2019 National Rowing Championships were held in Sydney from 25 March to 3 April. Fourteen Saints students competed and it was a chance for them to challenge themselves against the top rowers from schools from all across Australia. We competed in two U19 Men’s VIIIs combining with boys from PAC, Pembroke and Pulteney with the crew predominantly filled with our First 8. This crew placed third in the nation, winning bronze.

The Schoolboy VIII competed well all week, progressing through to the A Final against Head of the River winners from NSW, VIC, QLD and WA. The crew placed 7th overall which was a great result and provides a strong base for next season’s campaign. Other great results came from James Andrewartha (Year 12) placing 4th in the U19 men’s single and our schoolboy four placing 3rd in the U19 Men’s Coxed 4.

It was a great event that was enjoyed by all who attended and we look forward to making this the focus of the next year’s season for our Senior crews. Thank you to all parents, coaches, staff, the School and the students for their support that resulted in the success at both the Head of the River and the National Championships.
