Over the three days and two weekends of State Championship competition, 33 St Peter’s College Track and Field athletes nominated for a total of 87 events. They were joined by another 93 Saints Athletics Club athletes competing in age groups from Under 14 to Open Age. Inclusive of Veteran and Para categories, more than 546 athletes representing 35 clubs affiliated with Athletics Australia competed over the weekend.
The weekend had it all. Current SPSC students were treated with many amazing performances by fellow students and old scholars, some being present members of our coaching team. SPSC students achieved 21 podium finishes, 6 Gold, 10 Silver and 5 Bronze medals along with numerous Athletics Australia National Entry Standards, Finals Qualifiers and Personal Bests.
I’ll take this opportunity to thank all members of our coaching team for sharing their time and expertise with our athletes leading into this competition. It is appreciated that such a commitment requires a great deal of energy and time away from families.
Training sessions continue through to the end of Term 1. We can look forward to preparing for the:
1. Secondary School Sport South Australia Championships (SSSSA), Week 10 of this term,
2. Athletics Australia Nationals to be held in Adelaide, commencing Week 11 of this term and continuing into Week 1 of the school holiday break.
3. Athletics SA Schools Challenge Term 2 , Week 2.
