Reading is an integral part of our Junior School culture. From weekly library lessons that encourage and entice “Reading for Pleasure” to in-class literature explorations and state wide reading challenges. There is a high expectation around reading engagement, stamina and comprehension with reading strategies being taught and practiced in all parts of the School.

Reading was officially launched in the Junior school on Monday with all students involved in a buddy reading session from the Early Years to Year 6. Boys and their buddies were seen reading outside, inside classrooms and even in cubbies. There were small groups of boys everywhere, reading picture books from treasured collections at home. Friendships were formed which now allows for friendly waves and greetings across the playground. Staff and boys alike, commented on the opportunity to meet together across year levels to end Monday on such a positive note.
