This week, the SACE Board has announced that the works of 129 students have been selected for inclusion in the 2024 SACE Art Show, two of which are by St Peter’s College 2023 Graduates Marvin Xu and Jerry Yin.
The artworks included in this prestigous event include paintings, drawings, sculptures, costumes, and multimedia works, and showcase some of the amazing students who completed SACE Visual Art and Design in 2023. Marvin Xu’s work is entitled “Atlas”, and is a 3D printed model referencing iconic images of the Greek God who was condemned to hold up the heavens for eternity. Most impressively, this sculptural piece is fully functional as a laptop stand, cleverly weighted to create an elevated yet stable and ergonomic work platform. The process for producing this stunning piece involved the creation of a clay maquette which was then scanned and digitally rendered in Blender before being printed on the school’s 3D printers. Marvin’s dedication and skill in industrial design has also been recognised by RMIT, where he has accepted a place. We wish Marvin all the best for his future endeavours in product design and development.
Jerry Yin has had his still life artwork selected for inclusion in the SACE Art Show. The work is a 76 x 101cm oil on canvas painting, depicting an array of both manmade and organic objects rendered in a hyper-realistic style and showcasing Jerry’s exceptional attention to detail and skill in handling the medium.
School groups and the general public are invited to attend this exhibition, located in Light Square Gallery, Adelaide College of the Arts. However, please note that bookngs are essential. Visit the SACE website for a full list of selected artists and booking details.
