At the end of Term 3, our 81 athlete strong Track and Field Team travelled to Athletics SA Stadium at Mile End for the biggest day of the SAAS Athletics Program. With our athletes accepting the need to step out of their comfort zone and compete with athletes of high calibre, our TEAM successfully defended our 2023 Championship status by bringing home the Achilles Cup for the 51st time from 52 Carnivals. The quality of our opposition undoubtedly lifted the satisfaction attached to the overall result.

As a member of our Summer Sport Athletics Program, Leo was initially unsuccessful in making our Achilles Cup Squad. A persistent Leo earnt a seat on the bus to Mile End as a reserve. While more trained in hurdles, on the day, Leo was called upon to fill in for an 800m event. While leading for most of the distance, he was overtaken late in the race, crossing the finish line in 3rd place. Throughout the day, Leo consistently demonstrated an acceptance of service to the team and respect for officials and fellow competitors. Congratulations Leo.
