As we farewell the Class of 2018 I have had cause to reflect on many touching moments that I’ve witnessed in my first year as Headmaster. One such moment was last week’s Senior School Muster, where I had the privilege of announcing the School Captains for 2019. This year, many high calibre Year 12 students applied for these roles. Congratulations to School Captain Hugo Hart and School Vice-Captain David Quan on their appointment for 2019.
I have never heard such an enthusiastic and rapturous applause for both Hugo and David – a special moment that shows the respect and appreciation that these young men already hold from students and staff. Moments like these should not be overlooked as it reflects the core of what we seek to achieve here at Saints. Following muster I couldn’t help but be pleased by the reactions and well wishes that both Hugo and David received from their peers after the announcement. In their time here at Saints, like many students in their year, Hugo and David have displayed strong leadership qualities while helping many others engage in the wider School program. Their commitment to all students across the boarding and day School has been exemplary while at the same time they have reinforced the value of diversity and respect for the individual.
I look forward to working closely with both Hugo and David in 2019.
