It was tremendous to welcome accomplished sculptor, Tom Borgas as our 2020 Artist in Residence recently. Tom is an Adelaide sculptor who has exhibited his work throughout Australia and overseas.
Tom’s experience as a secondary school Art teacher and a university lecturer was a fantastic advantage as he quickly gained the interest of our students and enthused them to create bright colourful sculptural constructions. During his three weeks residency, Tom worked with two Year 9 classes and a Year 10 class with each boy creating their own sculptural piece inspired by Tom’s work.
Their creations will be on display and form a significant part of our end-of-year Art Show. Tom also worked with a group of boys during lunchtimes to produce a large group project that will permanently hang in the Art Centre. This work will be completed and installed during the end of Term 3 holiday and will remain as a great reminder to our students’ enthusiasm and creativity.
