We were delighted to welcome old scholar and contemporary artist Tristan Kerr (FLL 2002) back to St Peter’s College as our 2026 Artist in Residence. Over four weeks at the end of Term 2, Tristan worked with Years 9 and 11 students during class time, as well as a wonderful group of boys who joined him at lunchtime, to create two collaborative artworks.
The largest work is a vibrant interpretation of the buildings and streetscapes of the Adelaide CBD, using layered texture, shape and composition within a calming palette of blue hues reminiscent of the colours associated with St Peter’s College. Designed specifically for the stairwell of the Miller Library, the work transforms an otherwise functional space, injecting it with energy, colour and visual interest.
The second, smaller collaborative artwork explores 2D texture through a bold and impactful combination of colour, pattern and mark-making.
It was a pleasure to have Tristan return to the School and share his artistic practice, knowledge and enthusiasm with our students. His connection to SPSC made the residency particularly meaningful, and we look forward to welcoming him back and continuing our creative collaboration in the future.
