Now in its third year, Arts Day 2025 brought an extraordinary buzz to St Peter’s College, with close to 500 students from Years 7 to 9 immersed in a vibrant program spanning Music, Drama, Art, Design and more. The day once again proved to be a unique opportunity for students to step outside their usual timetables and engage with a diverse range of professional practitioners.

This year’s program offered 20 distinct workshops, each designed to inspire creativity, build skills, and introduce students to new artistic disciplines. From hands-on sculpture and mural painting to improvisational theatre, digital illustration, songwriting, comic book creation and  Martial Arts, there was something to ignite the imagination of every participant. With such a breadth of choice, students were able to explore an area they already loved or take a creative risk and try something completely new.

Visiting each workshop was a personal highlight for me, not only seeing the workshop hosts in action, sharing their passion and expertise, but also witnessing the genuine engagement of our students. In every room, there was an atmosphere of focus, energy, and excitement. I was especially touched by the moments of one-on-one encouragement I observed, where practitioners took the time to connect with students, offer feedback, and inspire them to pursue their creative ideas further.

The success of the day was made possible by the generosity and enthusiasm of our visiting artists and facilitators. Their willingness to share their craft, adapt to student needs, and foster a positive learning environment ensured that Arts Day 2025 was as enriching as it was enjoyable.

From my perspective, this year’s Arts Day was our best yet. The schedule flowed seamlessly, transitions between workshops ran smoothly, and the feedback from students and staff was overwhelmingly positive. There was a tangible sense of joy across campus, proof that the Arts have a unique ability to connect, challenge, and uplift our community.

As in previous years, the day concluded with the much-anticipated Battle of the Bands, an electrifying showcase of student talent and a fitting finale to an already inspiring day. The energy in the audience and on stage was a reminder of the creativity and courage that the Arts nurture in our young people.

We look forward to building on this success for Arts Day 2026, continuing to create experiences that encourage every student to discover their voice, stretch their imagination, and take pride in their creative achievements.
