The Arts & Technology Evening on Thursday 21 November 2024, was a vibrant celebration of creativity, innovation, and talent across Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and Technology. Building on the success of last year’s format, the event brought together students, families, and staff for an unforgettable evening showcasing the outstanding achievements of our school community.

The evening began with an impressive exhibition featuring artwork from every student who participated in an Art, Design, Photography, or Pottery class this year. Visitors were treated to a diverse array of creations, from thought-provoking photography and intricate pottery pieces to innovative design projects and expressive paintings. This collection highlighted the incredible breadth of creativity and skill nurtured in our classrooms throughout 2024. Adding to the visual feast was a special showcase of artwork produced during this year’s Residency with acclaimed artist Jimmy Dodd. The exhibit included works created using the unique “Painting Mill” technique, reflecting students’ exploration of abstract art under Dodd’s guidance. A selection of pieces from the annual Arts Day in August, crafted by Years 7 to 9 students, further enriched the display with their fresh and imaginative takes on various artistic themes.

The Technology Department dazzled attendees with hands-on interactive displays, showcasing student projects in material products, industrial design, computer game programming, and robotics. Parents and visitors marveled at the ingenuity and problem-solving abilities demonstrated in these exhibits, with many enjoying the opportunity to try their hand at operating the student-designed robots and exploring the immersive worlds of original computer games. Throughout the exhibition, the audience was serenaded by three outstanding piano trio performances by our talented Music students. Their harmonious renditions added a sophisticated and engaging atmosphere, reminding everyone of the immense skill and dedication within our Arts program.

The evening concluded with the Junior Production of GRIMM, performed by our Years 7 to 9 co-curricular Drama students. This dynamic and imaginative retelling of classic fairy tales brought humour, suspense, and heart to the stage. The cast delivered captivating performances, supported by stunning props, costumes, lighting, and sound, leaving the audience enthralled.

The 2024 Arts & Technology Evening was not only a showcase of student achievement but also a celebration of the collaboration between teachers, students, and the broader school community. The success of the event was a testament to the hard work, creativity, and passion of all involved. We extend our gratitude to everyone who attended and supported the event, and we look forward to seeing even more incredible accomplishments in 2025.
