There are a range of athletic development programs on offer in Term 4. These programs are designed to enhance student’s skills, fitness and overall sports performance. Whether you are looking to improve speed, build stamina, or refine track and field techniques, these programs provide a fantastic opportunity to support growth and enjoyment in sport.

Speed@SPSC
Fast, explosive movement is crucial across many sports, from Cricket and Football to Soccer, Tennis, Hockey, Basketball amongst others. The Speed@SPSC Program focuses on developing rapid acceleration and sprinting ability – skills that can help you outpace an opponent or chase down a ball with ease. Participation in the Program will boost athletic ability and support personal overall performance in chosen sports.

When: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 7 am to 8 am, continuing through to the end of Week 6
Where: Scotchy’s Shed (the green athletics shed on Farr Oval)

Boys are welcome to attend one or both sessions each week.

Run Club
Building stamina and cardiorespiratory endurance is essential for good health and boosts performance across a wide range of sports. Run Club caters to all abilities, offering a fun and inclusive environment for students, staff, and parents alike.

When: Fridays, 7 am to 8 am, continuing through to the end of Week 6
Where: Meet at the Sports Centre Café for a 7 am start

SPSC Track and Field
Track and Field is offered to all boys as a summer competitive sport in Terms 1 and 4. There is also an opportunity for boys who have chosen alternative sports to choose athletics as a ‘second’ sport. In this case, while boys are welcome to enter weekend competitions, they may use training sessions purely as an opportunity to enhance personal athletic development. These sessions cover a range of activities, including sprinting, hurdling, jumping, and throwing.

When: Mondays and Thursdays, 3.45 pm to 5 pm, through to the end of term

Gym Sessions
The SPSC gym is available for all students, providing an excellent opportunity to further develop your athletic abilities – whether for sport or general health and fitness. Open before and after school (refer to the timetable), the gym offers access to expert staff to help you with a program to ensure you are getting the correct advice to help you reach your goals. Whether you’re looking to target your strength, size, speed or power, visit the gym team to learn more.

These programs provide a fantastic opportunity for our students to strengthen their athletic ability and we encourage all boys to sign up and make the most of these great initiatives.
