The Junior School Author in Residence program has once again benefited from the rich story telling of visiting author Monty Pryor.
On Friday 8 March, Monty enthusiastically told students in from ELC – Year 1 stories of the dreamtime, complete with actions, dance and singing. It was amazing to see the positive ways the boys interacted with the stories.
Monty also shared his knowledge of Aboriginal musical instruments and tools as well as plants and techniques used to protect firesticks from the rain. By using heated sap from a particular tree, and moulding it around the ends of the fire sticks, the sticks stay dry during the wet season.
Monty’s visits are an integral part of the St Peter’s College Reconciliation Plan.
