In Week 3 we welcomed Will Kostakis as our Author in Residence for 2024. Will is an award-winning, best-selling author for young adults who had his first novel published at just 19 years of age.
Will worked closely with our Years 9 and 10 students to develop their creative writing skills; helping them to get past writers block, build the world their story is set in, and covered the basics of writing structure. Will’s passion and energy for creative writing was infectious with staff and students alike inspired to get working on their own stories.
As part of Arts Day, Will ran two creative writing sessions for Years 7 to 8, and ran a special session for our students participating in Write a Book in a Day in Week 5. Will is also a passionate advocate of libraries and the importance of reading for teens, with many of our boys picking up a book recommended by Will during his time with us.
We thank Will for spending the week at SPSC and look forward to welcoming him back in the future.
