St Peters’ College Junior School boys celebrated Bastille Day this year in the last week of Term 2. The students from Reception to Year 3 sang with much gusto as they marched down The Avenues on their way to the Da Costa Dining Room to enjoy a French Morning Tea. We were very pleased to be back in this wonderful Dining Hall, which had been decorated for the occasion. 250 boys dressed in the French colours filled Da Costa Dining Hall and eagerly participated in this very French event devouring 24 dozen fresh croissants and enjoying some hot chocolate.

Our learning was on display as we sang “Alouette”, and then “Frere Jacques” in four languages. We were then serenaded by a talented group of Year 3 string’s students who played “Au Clair de la Lune”. Certificates were presented to some enthusiastic and dedicated Reception students and to the Years 1 to 3 winners of the 2021 French Show and Tell and French Fact competitions. Many boys had spent much time and showed great determination to find French items to show and French facts to impress.

I would like to thank all the staff who helped with the set-up, serving and pack up on the day. Your help was greatly appreciated. Thank you also to Mrs Jasmine Taylor and the Junior School Leadership Team for their support and also to Chartwell’s catering.

The students of French from Years 4 to 6 also celebrated their learning and Bastille Day during Week 10. “Croissant d’ Or” delivered more fresh croissants for the older boys. These dedicated students of French were very pleased to be able to savour such delicious pastries and are to be commended for their passion and interest in the French language and culture.

“Vive La France!”
“Merci beaucoup à tous.”

Thank you to Miss Julia Procopio and Mademoiselle Rose Harvey for your efforts in creating a wonderful event for our students.
