What a remarkable year of Buddy Up 2025 has been. Our Year 11 students engaged in the program’s third year full of heart and enthusiasm. Term 4 saw our experienced group of Year 11 students mentor Year 10 students, who were able to draw on their leadership and knowledge.

The Year 11 students who participated this term all formed beautiful, longstanding connections with their buddies. They engaged proactively in helping with activities and ideas and made each session special. All of our guests and their families hold the students who have been involved in such high regard for their genuine and caring approach to their buddies.

I would like to thank all of the students, supervising volunteers and staff who all brought such wonderful energy to Buddy Up in Term 4 and contributed to a valuable handover for next year’s students.

A reflection from Year 11 student:

“My journey through Buddy Up was enriching, as it allowed me to connect with others through fun activities while providing parents and guardians with meaningful respite. Meeting my Buddy was a highlight—seeing their excitement and eagerness to get to know me, just as I saw with all the other buddies, was an honour. That sense of connection is what makes Buddy Up so special; the enthusiasm and positivity create genuine friendships and lasting memories for both the Buddy and the companion. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the program. It has helped me build friendships, contribute to the service community at St Peter’s College, and play a small part in supporting families. I strongly recommend that other students get involved, as Buddy Up is a core part of our school’s service learning and offers a meaningful way to engage with the community.” – Hugo Curyer, Year 11, Farrell House.
