The Arts Faculty is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of three of our talented staff members, whose creative and professional successes continue to enrich our School community and inspire our students.
Ms Laura Gent, our Ceramics Coordinator, has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Fleurieu Biennale Art Prize for her ceramic works interpreting the landscape of the Fleurieu region. Responding to the exhibition theme, A Sense of Place, Laura’s work explores the textures, forms, and natural beauty of the local environment through ceramics. The exhibition will be held from 5 June – 5 July at the Fleurieu Arthouse, located within Hardys Tintara in McLaren Vale.
We also congratulate Ms Rosalynde Skewes, who has been selected for inclusion in the Royal South Australian Society of Arts 2026 Portrait Prize (7th Biennial Portrait Prize). Her artwork, Peace, Play and Interstellar Wonder, is an oil painting on board that reflects her distinctive artistic style and thoughtful approach to portraiture. The exhibition will run from 5 July – 26 July 2026 and showcases some of the finest contemporary portrait artists in South Australia.
Finally, congratulations to Ms Beth Lyon, who was selected to perform in an exciting new initiative at Generations in Jazz that quickly became one of the highlights of the festival weekend; the inaugural Music Directors Big Band. Directed by internationally acclaimed Belgian trumpeter and festival guest artist Bert Joris, the ensemble brought together 18 music educators from across Australia, providing a unique opportunity for teachers to step out from behind the podium and return to the stage as performers. Beth’s selection is a testament to her excellence as both an educator and accomplished musician.
These achievements reflect the exceptional creativity, expertise, and passion of our Arts staff. We congratulate Laura, Rosalynde, and Beth on these well-deserved recognitions and thank them for the inspiration they bring to our students and wider school community every day.
