Last week was International Games Week, and we’re thrilled to celebrate it here at SPSC with an exciting spotlight on the entrepreneurial spirit of two of our own – Jack Hawkes (Year 12) and his younger brother Sam (Year 7). These talented students were recently nominated for the SA Young Achiever Award, thanks to their success with the card game SWIPEE.

SWIPEE began as an idea Sam and his primary school friends developed, inspired by classic card games. It quickly gained traction, selling over 3,000 packs both locally and online, and is now finding fans across Europe. While Sam and his friends designed the game, Jack has been key in managing its marketing and logistics, helping their creative vision grow into a thriving enterprise.

To celebrate International Games Week, students can sign up for a range of activities held in the Miller Library during Week 7. Alongside a special display of educational games, there will be opportunities to play SWIPEE and see firsthand what makes this homegrown creation so popular.

Congratulations to Sam, Jack, and their friends for their incredible achievement, and we look forward to celebrating Games Week.
