Next term we will farewell graduating Year 12 student Tian Wang, whose contribution behind the camera has shaped the way we experience sport and school events.

Tian first picked up his camera in Year 10 (2023), producing his first video after being recruited by then School Captain, Thomas Hamilton-Smith. Since then, he has created more than 40 hype-up and recap videos for the Blue Army page, as well as films for Intercol, Head of the River, the Cabaret Concert and the School Captains page.

Across three years he has dedicated more than 600 hours to filming and editing. His favourite project? The most recent Intercol recap, where his improved skills helped him bring together the defining moments of each fixture with a soundtrack that gave the video lasting impact. Capturing moments on film is never straightforward, it requires the ability to notice what matters and reflect it in a way that resonates with a particular audience. Tian has consistently managed to do just that.

As the Captains shared at Muster, the Blue Army’s culture of support would not be the same without Tian’s videos. Along the way, he says that he has not only sharpened his filming and editing skills but also learned how to connect with people and contribute to the wider school community.

Your videos have not only captured moments Tian, they’ve helped shape the way we celebrate them. Thank you.

Tian’s final video, the Winter Intercol 2025 piece, can be viewed here: https://vimeo.com/1122062948/d26d10035f?ts=6000&share=copy
