On Thursday 21 September, our Senior School ensembles and Junior School Chamber Choir came together to put on a spectacular concert – Music Festival “Centenary of Sound” where they performed and celebrated music from over the last 100 years. From George Gershwin through to Dua Lipa, our students put on a diverse performance of four sets of music that connected to their family and friends who attended.

The concert began with the first set – our Orchestra, String Orchestra and Rock Band combining forces to perform outstanding orchestral pop hits, such as Bittersweet Symphony, by The Verve, and Never Tear Us Apart by INXS. The second set was performed by our combined Senior, Intermediate and Middle Concert Bands, featuring music from the 1920s-1950s, such as George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Glen Miller’s In the Mood. Our third set featured our Senior School Choirs and Junior School Chamber Choir, performing classics from the 70s-90s, including Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Backstreet Boys’ I Want it That Way. Finally, our fourth set combined all performers from the evening in the 200-piece finale, performing a range of music from the 2000s-2020s, such as Lose Yourself by Eminem, and Levitating by Dua Lipa.

These were just some of the songs featured in this incredible event. Well done to all students and staff who put on this spectacular evening of music. Thank you to all who were able to come out and support the event.
