On Friday 23 August, the 2024 Chinese Language Teacher’s Association of South Australia (CLTASA) Chinese Language Awards Ceremony was held at the Memorial Hall, St Peter’s College.

These annual awards recognise enthusiastic and successful learners of the Chinese language and culture in South Australia. On the night, Dominic Wong (Year 11) and Tadgh Jackson (Year 10) took the stage as hosts, effortlessly switching between Chinese and English, and exemplifying the language skills and poise cultivated at our School.

St Peter’s College was pleased to nominate Vinh Lam (Second Language Learners of Chinese) (Year 10), Daniel Teng (Background Language Learners of Chinese) (Year 10) and Axel Ling (First Language Learners of Chinese) (Year 11) as the recipients of these awards.

Moreover, the short Chinese video ‘Chinatown Delight’ 《中国城美食, created by Lucas L Chen (Year 7) and Jack Lai (Year 7), secured second place, while Charles Nguyen’s (Year 9) ‘BYD Vlog’《比亚迪的优势》earned third place in the Years 7 to 9 Secondary Language Learners category of the Chinese video competition. Jerry Liu (Year 9) and Raghu (Year 9) were awarded certificates of merit for their efforts.

We congratulate them on such a fabulous achievement and look forward to their continued success in language learning. Special thanks to Ms Xiaoning Wang for assisting Dominic and Tadgh with the Chinese translation and helping them familiarise themselves with the MC speeches.
