On Friday 26 November 2021, the 2021 Chinese Language Teacher’s Association of South Australia (CLTASA) Chinese Language Awards Ceremony was held at the Elder Hall, University of Adelaide. These annual awards recognise enthusiastic and successful learners of the Chinese language and culture.

This year the ceremony included addresses not only from official parties such as Dr Ning Zhang, the Director of Confucius Institute at the University of Adelaide; and Associate Professor Lilian Kow, the President of the Australian Chinese Medical Association; but also from 2 guest speakers, one is Honorable John Gardner MP, Minister for Education, the other is Mr Sean Keenihan, the Chair of the Board at Norman Waterhouse, whose first-hand personal Chinese learning experiences were inspiring. Their suggestions and personal reflections about how and why to learn Chinese gave all the students in attendance some great tips for the future and assured them that their hard-work would inevitably pay off.

In 2021 St Peter’s College was pleased to nominate Sam Krix (Year 11 FRR) as the recipient of this award. We congratulate him on this achievement and look forward to his continued successes in his language learning.
