The Chinese Society hosted a Mafia (狼人杀) Tournament last term, bringing together students for a competition of strategy and teamwork.
Mafia (狼人杀) is one of the most popular social deduction games among young people in Chinese-speaking communities. Throughout the game, students analysed clues, debated different perspectives, and made strategic decisions in an engaging and interactive environment. The game encouraged communication, critical thinking, collaboration and confidence, while allowing students to build friendships with peers from different year levels and backgrounds.
Beyond the competition, the event introduced students to an important aspect of contemporary Chinese youth culture. As Mafia is widely played among Chinese communities, learning the game enables students to better connect with peers from different cultural background and participate in a fun and inclusive activity. It also provides opportunities for students to develop intercultural understanding and build meaningful friendships through a fun and inclusive experience.
The Chinese Society looks forward to hosting more cultural events throughout the year to continue promoting cultural exchange and community engagement.
