This year’s Chinese excursion saw the Year 11 and 12 IB Chinese A and B students travelling to Chinatown to immerse ourselves in Chinese culture. Starting with a film at the Eastend Palace Nova Cinema, we enjoyed a screening of The Farewell, before travelling via tram to Gouger Street for a comprehensive hotpot banquet lunch. Each table had its own pot of soup and we were treated to the typical delicious meats and vegetables, as well as delicacies such as duck intestine and tripe. Some of the boys were also able to engage in conversation with the waiters. We then split into groups and, using WeChat on our phones, raced around Chinatown to take photographs of language-themed objects. All in all it was another fantastic outing that benefited the Chinese students immensely.
