06 March 2026
The Chinese language learners from Years 1 to 6 have been very busy since the beginning of the term, even while we were celebrating Chinese New Year. The year-level winners of the 2026 Chinese Tongue Twister Competition were confirmed by the end of Week 4 after strong participation and impressive performances from so many boys. At the beginning of the Year of the Horse, we introduced three “horse” tongue twisters to truly challenge everyone and determine the overall winners. In many classes, the difference between first and second place was only half a second.
The following boys received their certificates and prizes from Mrs Taylor and Mr Sanders at the Week 5 assembly. (Our Year 4 winners were away at camp and will receive their awards upon their return.) The Years 5 and 6 winners also demonstrated their speed and accuracy by reciting all three tongue twisters on stage.
- Year 1 First Language winner: Ethan Wang
- Year 1 Second Language winner: Benjamin Bates-Eu
- Year 2 First Language winner: Danson Zou
- Year 2 Second Language winner: Alexander Penglis
- Year 3 First Language winner: Issac Fa
- Year 3 Second Language winner: Liam Bikdeli
- Year 4 First Language winner: Oliver Dang
- Year 4 Second Language winner: Asher Oh
- Year 5 First Language winner: Damon Yuan
- Year 5 Second Language winner: Kush Jasoria
- Year 6 First Language winner: Ethan Li
- Year 6 Second Language winner: Santino Aquino
Congratulations to all of our winners, and well done to all the boys who competed and gave their best effort in this year’s competition. It is never just about being number one, but about lifting each other up and pushing our own limits.
