Congratulations to Andrew Maenda who is currently representing the Athletics Australia Team at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

To qualify for the 100m, Andrew firstly had to meet the Athletics Australia qualifying standard of 10.69sec. He did this on three occasions, twice in Adelaide and once in Brisbane whilst competing at the National Championships. Andrew’s personal best presently stands at 10.57sec. What makes Andrew’s selection all the more impressive is he is only 16 years old and will be competing in the Under 18 age category.

Andrew’s 100m heat will be held on Monday 7 August at 0930 (2300 ACST) and can be watched live here. Good luck Andrew!
