SACE results
The Stage 2 SACE results are expected to be released on Tuesday 18 December. Students should ensure they are registered with the SACE Board so students can receive their results immediately.
St Peter’s College Careers Centre – opening times during the holidays
The Careers Counsellor will be available from 9.45am on 18 December (the day the year 12 SACE results are released), 19 December and until noon on 20 December. After the SACE results are released, parents and boys interested in getting assistance with changing preferences, planning courses etc are asked to phone the School (08) 8404 0400 before 1.00pm to either make an appointment, or arrange a time for the Careers Counsellor to phone back. The Careers Counsellor will also be contactable by email or phone during the afternoon of January 3 to coincide with the expected release of the IB results.
SATAC and interstate applications
All Year 12 students and their parents have recently been sent an email from the Careers Counsellor with a newsletter attached. This provides information on important issues in the November to January period. The email also provided some advice about their individual SATAC application (if the student has made an application) and highlighted issues that may need to be addressed.

Course Seeker is a new Australian Government initiative that aims to help students gain Australian tertiary information to assist them to make informed decisions about future study options. The website provides access to information on ATARs, prerequisites and enrolment policies. Information has been sourced from across Australia and presented in a nationally consistent and comparable format to improve the transparency across the higher education sector. Charles Allan Seymour Hawker Scholarships
The CAS Hawker Scholarships are the most generous privately funded scholarships available to undergraduate and postgraduate students in Australia. Established by Charles Hawker’s sister Lilias Needham, each C.A.S. Hawker Scholarship is valued at up to $60,000.00. Applications opened on December 3 2018 and close on 4 January 2019. Applicants are encouraged to apply early. The scholarship is open to students undertaking study at the following institutions: Australian National University, Flinders University, University of Adelaide, Roseworthy College, University of SA, University of New England, Marcus Oldham and University of Cambridge. Selection is largely based on personal qualities and demonstrated leadership as well as academic ability. The C.A.S. Hawker Scholarships perpetuate the memory of parliamentarian, scholar, soldier, pastoralist and statesman Charles Allan Seymour Hawker and commemorate the achievements of one of Australia’s most respected pastoral pioneers. St Andrews University International Summer Program
The St Andrews University Summer program is a three week live in program that is held at St Andrews University in July each year. The program offers students aged 16 to 18 from around the world the unique opportunity to experience courses taught in the Scottish academic tradition by current academic staff. Participants on the International Summer Programmes will receive a student ID card and will have free access to world-class facilities, including the library and newly redeveloped sports centre. Students can enrol in one of a number of academic courses including creative writing, classics, Scottish studies, world literature, psychology and neuroscience, physical science, mathematics and computer science, biological and earth sciences, science and religion, moral philosophy, and sustainable development. Applications open in October. Established in 1413, St Andrews has a high academic reputation and this Summer Program offers students an opportunity to explore this environment which may assist in planning their post school study plans. Work opportunity
The School has been contacted by Clisby Engineering about a career opportunity for a Year 11 or 12 student who is finishing their secondary education. This is a position for a student who is interested in practical and/or hands on work, project management and training. Further roles in Project Management, Business Development, Divisional Management, Factory and Operations Management are also possible. Clisby has factories in Malaysia, Indonesia, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia. Students interested are asked to contact the Careers Counsellor.

Naval Shipbuilding College
This college will be commencing soon. The Naval Shipbuilding College which will be administered from Adelaide, is a partnership of Australian universities, TAFEs, training institutions and industry, working to develop and align credited training and educational programs with the future needs of the naval shipbuilding industry. Army Reserves
On 13 December 2018, an Army Reserve Information Session Evening (ARISE) including a vehicle and equipment display will take place at Keswick Barracks. It is designed to be an interactive activity, with great opportunities to look at a range of equipment and talk to soldiers about part-time career options in the Army Reserve. Also covered during the evening will be the Army Reserve Officer training program and the Accelerated Training Option (a period of full-time work in 2019).
