On a glorious late autumn morning, the St Peter’s College Junior School community gathered on Girdlestone Oval for the much-anticipated annual House Cross Country event. With clear skies, enthusiastic House spirit, and plenty of energy, boys from Prep to Year 6 embraced the challenge of the course and the opportunity to proudly represent their Houses.

The event showcased the very best of Junior School participation, perseverance and sportsmanship. Boys competed across a scenic yet demanding course that wound through the stunning Junior School grounds. While our younger students tackled shorter distances around Palm House and Girdlestone ovals, the older boys ventured further afield to conquer the hills of the Secret Garden and the expansive flats surrounding Burchnall Sports Centre the Avenues, and Girdlestone Ovals.

The Years 3 to 6 races set the tone early, with students taking on a challenging 3km course with determination and resilience. There were plenty of smiles, moments of grit and perseverance, and a strong sense of friendly rivalry as boys pushed themselves to earn valuable House points.

A highlight of the morning was witnessing the encouragement shown by boys towards one another, with students cheering on classmates and housemates right through to the finish line.

Events such as these continue to highlight the strong spirit of community and participation that exists within the Junior School.
