On Thursday 16 May, the Year 3 cohort accompanied by staff and parents embarked on an exciting journey to the Central Market. In the lead up to the excursion the boys worked in groups to research facts about a country, including different recipes that reflected the culture of the country. The boys had a budget to work within and came up with the ingredients they needed to buy to create their dish back at school the following day.

Our day began with a brisk walk to the corner of Rundle Mall and King William Street where we caught the tram to Victoria Square. It was wonderful to see the boys engaging with the stall owners and working collaboratively to ensure they had a successful shopping adventure. We were very fortunate to enjoy some delicious Asian food at Fresh Bites, a café owned by the Zhang family. We returned to the Market for some last minute shopping and exploring before heading back to school, via the tram and a slightly slower walk home!

On Friday the boys worked with the parents to cook and create some incredible dishes. We had amazing crab pasta, delicious spanakopita, sushi and spaghetti bolognaise just to name a few.

We were incredibly lucky to have a fabulous group of parents who accompanied us on both our excursion and helped create incredible dishes with the boys the following day. Without their supervision and support of the boys these learning opportunities would not be possible. We can’t thank you enough.
