Every August, Share the Dignity – an Australian charity dedicated to supporting women and girls experiencing or at risk of homelessness, domestic violence, or poverty – calls on Australians to donate menstrual products at Woolworths stores nationwide. These donations are then distributed to women and girls across the country who would otherwise go without.
When someone is doing it tough, the last thing on their mind should be whether they can afford menstrual products. The lengths some women and girls go to in order to manage their period when they cannot afford basic products is truly heartbreaking. Luckily, it’s a problem we can help solve, together.
Last year, Woodcock House successfully raised over $700 worth of donations and products in a single August drive – an exceptional result from just one House, and far more than expected. This year, with the whole school’s support, SPSC hopes to make an even bigger difference in the lives of women across Australia.
To gather support for this year’s Dignity Drive, Woodcock House will be running a bacon and egg roll stall at recess. It is a simple, fun way to get the whole school involved while raising much-needed funds and awareness for the cause. Woodcock House will be selling one bacon and egg roll for $5, and two for $9. Students will be able to pay with cash, as well as through EFTPOS and student ID machines.
Given the action-packed term ahead, the stall will be held on Friday 28 August (Week 6). This timing is perfect as it lands within the timeline of Share the Dignity’s campaign.
We cannot wait to see Woodcock House, and the whole school, get behind this amazing cause. Every roll sold and every dollar raised makes sure no women or girl has to go without.
