We have introduced ELC Family Sessions in the library this term for the Mulberry Room families. Once boys are signed into ELC, their parents or caregivers make their way to the library and wait for the boys to arrive. We read a story, investigate the rhyming, talk about characters and use the skill of prediction. Borrowing is the next task, with boys sharing the steps to borrow books from the library. Then, don’t forget a stamp on your hand!
Boys, family members and staff then participate in a range of activities linked to the story. Before heading back to ELC the boys thank their families for coming and then wave goodbye.
A new collection of “Smiley Books” that has a wonderful selection of books that support early literacy development has been created in the library. Families are welcome to select from this new collection with their sons between 8:15am – 3:45pm Monday to Friday.
