In Term 3, the Chinese Society successfully held a series of Chinese character engraving activities over five weeks. The workshops, in collaboration with the Technology department, taught students how to create stamps using 3D printing, starting from scratch. The first few sessions included tutorials on using AutoCAD to design a blueprint for stamps featuring Chinese characters of the students’ choice. The designs varied, with many students choosing to create stamps with their Chinese names. With the help of an online calligraphy font website, students were able to craft unique designs.
Haydrian Cheung (Year 12) took his design to the next level by integrating his artistic talent with calligraphy fonts, creating beautiful stamps for both himself and his brother. Some students opted to use blessing phrases or buzzwords, while others created custom designs. The final results were fantastic, and all participants thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. Many are eagerly anticipating another workshop in the future. The Chinese Society would like to extend sincere gratitude to our society advisors, Ms Qiu and Ms Huang, for their support and dedication, which ensured the success of the event. We also thank Mr Lamont and Mr Kennedy from the Technology department for their guidance and generous support throughout the term. Due to the overwhelming success of this workshop, we are excited to announce a similar event in the near future. Please stay tuned and don’t miss out on our upcoming events!
