St Peter’s College Visual Arts teacher Tim O’Shea has been honoured with the invitation to be the 2025 SALA Festival feature artist at DogRidge Wines, Cellar Door and Gallery, located in McLaren Vale. The invitation came from old scholar Fred Howard (HWD 1988), who, along with his wife Sarah Howard, owns and operates DogRidge Wines.
Tim’s solo exhibition, titled ‘Beyond the Vista’, features 20 oil on canvas paintings, with a focus on the landscapes of McLaren Vale and the Fleurieu Peninsula. The collection is a heartfelt visual response to the ever-changing beauty of this unique region—its luminous light, vibrant colours, rolling vineyards, distant hills, and its breathtaking proximity to the sea.
“It’s a landscape that continues to inspire,” Tim says. “For over 20 years, I’ve kept coming back, always trying to capture its essence on canvas.”
The official opening of the exhibition was held on Sunday 27 July and was an overwhelming success. With over 100 guests in attendance, the atmosphere was vibrant and celebratory, filled with friends, art lovers, and generous support from the wider community. Fred Howard delivered a humorous and memorable opening speech, and the event saw the sale of numerous artworks, with red dots aplenty and DogRidge’s beautiful wines flowing.
The exhibition also carries a special connection to the School, as Fred and Sarah’s sons, Will (HWD 2021) and Albert (HWD 2013), are old scholars. Both were gifted Visual Arts students, with Albert excelling in Year 12 Visual Arts under Tim’s guidance, achieving outstanding results, including an A+ for his final body of work.
Beyond the Vista is on display at DogRidge Wines, McLaren Vale, throughout August, open seven days a week from 11am to 5pm. All artworks are available for purchase.
We warmly congratulate Tim on this achievement and encourage the St Peter’s College community to visit and support this exceptional exhibition.
