During the last week of the school holidays, 25 of us braved the cold and headed off on a ski trip to Mount Hotham. Blessed with a large snow dump and freezing conditions on the first night, this created a great base of snow for the week. With an additional couple of breathtaking bluebird days, the conditions were perfect for a week of adventure and fun in the snow.
This trip was an incredible opportunity for our students to explore the snowy wonders whilst developing their skiing and snowboarding skills and forging lasting memories with their peers.
The slopes of Mount Hotham were bustling with our students flying down on skis and snowboards. From beginners to advanced skiers, everyone found a challenge to match their skill level.
On our rest day we jumped on a bus and headed down to Wire Plain. Laughter filled the air as students raced down the hills on taboggans, competing to see who could reach the bottom the fastest.
What’s a trip to the snow without a classic snowball fight? Friendly battles ensued as students engaged in snowball fights against their peers and teachers. Our snowman building competition was a hit, with teams crafting impressive snowmen. From traditional designs to imaginative creations, the teachers and Year 11 students went all out with a near 8 foot giant.
The trip was a resounding success, filled with fun, camaraderie, and new experiences. A big thank you to the teachers, parents, students and everyone involved in this fantastic adventure. The time spent bonding with friends and teachers in such a magical setting created cherished memories that will last a lifetime. I look forward to more exciting trips with the Exploration Society in the future!
