Every school holidays a group of students volunteer at Foodbank HQ helping to sort, pack and tidy the warehouse where all donated goods are kept before they are distributed to various charities. Here are some of our students’ reflections:

“Volunteering at Foodbank was an amazing experience. My role was to sort dog food out of large 1kg bags into small 300g bags, and I did this with some mates for the first couple of days before switching and making meal packs. This was awesome and really helped to see how much work there is to do with organisations such as Foodbank, and it was great to see the impact we were making, small but a difference.
Harry Steele, Year 9 – Da Costa House

“During our time at Foodbank, I really enjoyed how fulfilling it was to help support people suffering from food insecurity in Australia. I was surprised to learn that over 3.4 million households struggle with access to food throughout Australia, which made it feel even more meaningful.”
Jack Lai, Year 8 – Hawkes House

“Over the past few years, I’ve helped with Foodbank SA on several occasions. During this time, I, along with some other boys, were tasked to scoop up dog food and to bag them. This may not sound fun, but it did teach me that even the smallest things can help those in need.”Eric Yang, Year 10  – Da Costa House
