Boys from Reception to Year 6 have been working hard this term to learn various poems for the South Australian French Teachers’ Association (SAFTA), annual French Poetry Competition. Mr Cédric Peltier kindly gave up his time to assist in the selection of the finalists. Many boys successfully reached the semi-finals. This year, St Peter’s College will be represented by Jack Albanese, Kaeshav Rajasekaran, Alex Willis and Harrison Maung from Year 1, Beau Leon, Advik Sinkar and Nicholas Steele from Year 2, Nazir Rana from Year 3 and Andrew Lucas, Freddie Sils, Aarav Bhatnagar and Sebastian Gilbert from Year 4 as well as Benjamin Howell and Shaarav Reddy from Year 6.

Year 1D and 2J were fortunate enough to have a French visitor this term. Mr Xavier Bizot, father of Remi Bizot (Year 1), came to read the book Barbapapa in French.

During Week 8, we had a Kaurna language session. We sang “Heads, shoulders, knees and toes” in French and learnt how to sing the same song in Kaurna. This was a wonderful language exchange.

Year 1 and 2 students and I are busily rehearsing our French item for their concert, which we will perform in Week 10.

We are also pleased that some talented Year 10 students, who have created books for us, are coming to visit before the end of term.
