“Le Grand Concours de la Poésie Récitée de la SAFTA” winners.

The South Australian French Teachers’ Association (SAFTA) holds a poetry reciting competition each year. The competition is open to all Reception – Year 7 students in South Australia who study French. St Peter’s College students worked very hard to learn the set poems, and their recitations are of a very high standard, and one again St Peter’s College has performed well.

Congratulations to the following students for their achievements:

  • Kaeshav Rajasekaran (Reception) won of the R/1 category. His poem was entitled “1,2,3 qui est sur le toit”.
  • Nicholas Savvouildis (Year 3) won the Runner Up of the 2/3 category. His poem was entitled “le poussin” and it was written by Maurice Carême.
  • Bailey Kerr (Year 7) and Sean Ran (Year 7) from Mrs Rachel Spiby’s Year 7 class won the Runners Up of the 6/7Group category.

These students have been invited to attend the SAFTA/Alliance Française Prize Giving evening on 30 October. Our students will be asked to recite their poems to the audience and receive a certificate and a prize from SAFTA.

“Félicitations”, congratulations to not only the successful students, but to all those who participated in the competition. The boys demonstrated great enthusiasm for the French language and much determination and perseverance.
