Last month, 26 students from Years 4 to 6 represented our School at the North Adelaide SAPSASA District Athletics Competition at Santos Stadium.
After some light morning rain, the sun came out to provide beautiful conditions for a fantastic day of competition. Our students competed with enthusiasm and determination, while demonstrating excellent sportsmanship, respect and support for their teammates.
There were many outstanding individual performances throughout the day:
- 10 Year Old Boys: Isaac Sims placed 1st in the 800m and 1500m; Maverick Grantham placed 1st in discus; Henry Sims finished 2nd in the 800m; and Henry Cluse placed 3rd in shot put.
- 11 Year Old Boys: Abe Tembel finished 1st in the 800m and 1500m; Sean Cheng finished 2nd in the 800m; Soitori Natsias placed 3rd in discus; Stirling Lands placed 3rd in high jump; and Ollie Watson placed 3rd in long jump.
- 12 Year Old Boys: Doug Cundy finished 1st in the 1500m and 2nd in the 200m, while Jonathan Jiao won the 100m in an impressive time of just over 13 seconds.
A major highlight was watching our 10 Years and 12 Years relay teams dominate their races. Both teams demonstrated exceptionally clean baton changes and outstanding teamwork to secure well-deserved victories.
Following the district competition, seven students were selected to represent the North Adelaide District at the State Athletics Championships, which were held in early September. Congratulations to:
