You may recall the launch of our Micro Credentials program earlier in the year, where we invited self-directed learners to stretch themselves academically by engaging with a School-curated range of online university and workplace-accredited short courses. Students earn real-world, digital ‘badges’ that speak to their passion and mastery outside a traditional curriculum, and meet regularly with members of the Academic leadership team who support and resource their intellectual journey as necessary. Canny observers will note that these sorts of qualifications tend to carry real weight on CVs and university applications, especially in contexts beyond Australia.

We currently have a number of students enrolled in courses taught and accredited by institutions like Dartmouth College, Hong Kong Polytechnic and the Smithsonian Institute. As testament to our ‘Stage, not Age’ strategy, some of our learners are looking to challenge themselves in areas traditionally off-limits to teenagers. One brave Year 7 student just aced his Neuroanatomy test at the University of Michigan!

If you know of any bold learners who may wish to challenge themselves by joining our Micro Credentials cohort, please contact me at NCarter@stpeters.sa.edu.au. I’d love to chat.
