After a refreshing break, Term 2 has kicked off with a busy and jam-packed start. On the first Wednesday back, we held an Anzac Memorial Service outside the Memorial Hall, to commemorate the 380 fallen Saints who lost their lives during the two world wars. The entire Senior School, along with Year 6 students, was present for the service. We observed a minute of silence, read out six stories of sacrifice from old scholars and planted a cross into the ground for each fallen soldier, while reading out their name in remembrance.  Additionally, the senior choir performed ‘Close Now Thine Eyes’, written by old scholar Andrew Wells (W&A 1937) while stationed in Tobruk during WWII. Conducting the Anzac Service outside of Memorial Hall is a great way for us to acknowledge our School’s history and heritage.

On Saturday we hosted our annual Community Day, or winter sports day. After a cancellation last year due to a surge in COVID cases, this year was the first year back since 2021 where the School community was able to come out and support the boys. It was great to see the everyone out supporting their friends and family in their inter House fixtures, as well as socialising at their respective House lunches. The next House event coming up on the school calendar is the Swimming Carnival in Week 4. Boys are already underway with their trials and excitement is building. Additionally, each House has been assigned with the task of coming up with their own unique House chant, which will be performed and judged on the day as an event for the Captain’s Cup.

The remainder of the term is looking to be a big one, with multiple school concerts scheduled throughout, as well as the Year 10 21-day journey towards the back-end of the term. We are looking forward to the start of the Winter sports season, and will keep you updated with the latest details throughout the term.
