The last fortnignt has been busy! We finally presented the National Student Leadership Summit, watched the fantastic Alfresco Concert held outside Hill Wing, and supported the rowers in their Head of the River regatta.

The Summit was a terrific event full of learning and connecting with others. It was an absolute pleasure to finally meet with Louka Parry and Anne Knock for the first time in person after working with them online for weeks. The presentations and event as a whole went extremely smoothly. Any hiccups or issues we had were quickly rectified and we worked on the spot to make the day the best we could. All in all, it was an incredible and fulfilling experience and one that both of us will certainly never forget.

The Alfresco Concert was held on the lawns outside Hill Wing on Friday evening. It was a fantastic night full of music, camaraderie and good food. It was great to see so many supporters, both parents and students alike, come and watch our musicians perform to such a high standard. Congratulations to all boys who performed, particularly the Big Band, Small Jazz Choir, and Jazz Combo who ended the night, as well as Loyd Williams (Year 11) for his awesome solo. Furthermore, we had art displays around the venue showcasing the talent students have in the Digital Art space. It was great to see a spotlight shone on the great pieces.

On Saturday 18 March, SPSC raced in the Head of the River at West Lakes. We secured wins in the 2nd IV, 1st IV, 3rd VIII and 1st VIII in the senior division, marking the 8th consecutive 1st VIII win, the longest streak in the state. In the junior divisions titles were acquired in the 8/9 E, F, G & H coxed quads. We were happy to see many boys make their way to West Lakes to support their peers who were racing, and provided an energetic atmosphere that was much appreciated. We wish the senior boys luck as they travel to Perth next week for the National Rowing Championships, where they will compete against top boats from around the country.

All in all, the last two weeks have been busy. However, it’s been great to have so many projects to sink our teeth into and organise before the term break. We’re looking forward to the coming weeks, with our inter-school competition with Wilderness on Wednesday 29 March, the Intercol sports in Week 9, and the Hot-Cross Bun Fundraiser in Week 10.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions, we are always happy to help.
