As the year draws to an end amidst a whirlwind of celebrations and emotions, we find ourselves almost in shock trying to process it all. Having both been privileged enough to attend St Peter’s College since the Junior School, it has been a decade since we have had to start afresh in an unfamiliar environment. We would be lying if we said we weren’t nervous, however the thought of new opportunities and a whole world to explore is so exciting.
Community is the people you surround yourself with, and at SPSC, we have been so fortunate to be surrounded by an incredible staff team and student body. At Year 12 Speech Day back in October, the guest of honour, Professor George Murrell, brought with him an outstanding life in orthopaedic surgery and athletics. Through his address, however, he articulated how the relationships he made were among his fondest memories. When we walk out of the school gates one final time, it will be the friendships we have forged, and the memories that we have made that we will be forever grateful for.
As we hang up the white blazers, two brilliant young men step in. The handover process has been a deeply reflective experience, and a nice opportunity to spend some quality time with Archie and Henry. Archie is a leader that speaks through his actions, consistently getting the job done without fuss or need for attention, while Henry’s passion and creativity are second to none. Together they both exemplify what it means to lead with truth, act with respect, and live in service.
2025 has been a year of growth, challenges, heartbreak and triumph. From cheering at Intercols, admiring concerts, collaborating with others on new initiatives, to watching other students grow along their own special journeys, it has been unforgettable.
We are unbelievably grateful to all the staff who work tirelessly to ensure we are supported during our time at SPSC. Their compassion, wisdom, and patience, are instrumental to the success and wellbeing of every boy at the School.
To all the boys, it has been one of the greatest privileges to have led and stood beside you this year. It has been incredible to witness the range of talents and interests, along with the gentle love which is the foundation of this community.
Thank you for an amazing year. We are honoured to have served as your School Captains for 2025.
