Finishing the Term Strongly
We have come to the end of Term 2! Well done to all our boys for finishing this semester strongly, and congratulations on the hard-work you have done over the last ten weeks. You all deserve a well-earned break. Over the last fortnight, we’ve been busy finalising our projects before the end of term, and it’s been fantastic to see the Junior School in the last few days with their concerts and events.
Bastille Day, the day where our Junior French students celebrate the French Revolution, was held in Week 9. It was a terrific event, and it was amazing to see our boys in red, blue and white. After being treated by performances from our Prep Strings program, and much singing, we all shared crossaints and hot chocolate. Overall, it was nice to see everyone having a great time.
The Junior School also hosted its annual Years 5 and 6 Concert. After two concerts, we were amazed at the impressive skills the boys showed when performing in their bands, orchestras and choirs. The night concluded with a show-stopping performance of ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’, where all the boys were involved. Thanks to Mr Simon Varga and the music staff for making this show happen. Well done boys!
Throughout our time as Captains, we’ve focused on improving the culture of the boys within the House System. Part of this has included meeting individually with the Head of Houses and House Captains to offer our support and get an insight into the inner-workings of each House. Overall, we are happy to report that all ten Houses are moving along well, and everyone is working cohesively to improve the wellbeing of all students.
Finally, we’ve had more meetings with other Anglican Schools around South Australia. It was very enlightening to listen to the other projects student leaders are undergoing, and offer our ideas and experience to this committee. After a late start to the Term, we’re excited to continue this conversation in the next semester.
All in all, this Term has flown by extremely fast, and it’s been an incredible journey thus far. We’re very excited to continue our work in the next Semester. There’s more to come, so keep an eye on this space. There’s big things in the pipeline!
As always, we are always looking to help in anyway we can. Please do not hesitate to contact us on @saintscaptains or via email. We’re happy to help.
