As Semester 1 wraps up, we approach the halfway mark of the academic year as well as our time as Captains. This is a valuable moment to reflect on all that has been achieved thus far, and all that is still to come.
It’s going to a busy final two weeks of term, with SATs and assignment due dates rapidly approaching. This serves as a reminder to remain focused, manage one’s time effectively, and look out for each other during stressful periods. By finishing the semester on a high note, we can set a positive tone to return to after the winter holidays.
Before heading up to the Flinders Ranges next week to join the Year 10 students, Archie and I are prioritising being present within the School. It’s easy to get wrapped up in work behind the scenes, which is why we have been joining in on activities throughout the Junior School and Senior School.
After completing English Literature last year, I was able to attend the Art Gallery of South Australia with the current cohort of literature students to help prepare them for their creative pieces.
On a similar note, earlier this week Archie and I joined the ELC boys in the vegetable garden, planting a variety of different fruits and veggies to help them learn about gardening. We also attended the Stage 1 and Stage 2 drama production of Glengarry Glen Ross. It was great to see a full, sold out house, and all of the hard work put in by the boys acting and helping at the door, as well as from the Drama staff.
Looking ahead, the opportunity to join the Year 10 students on camp will help us further strengthen our connections with the boys. Having been on camp ourselves, we know that there are ups and downs, and therefore are grateful that we can be there to support them as they partake in what was a life-changing experience for me.
