Pink Socks + Formal Announcement
As the Year 12 students return for their final full term at St Peter’s College, what is traditionally one of the busiest and most exciting periods of the school year is already well underway. With Winter Intercol approaching, our upcoming Rex J Lipman Lecture and preparations for major events continuing there is plenty for our community to look forward to.
This week, SPSC proudly continued its annual involvement in the SAAS Pink Round. Across South Australia, schools come together for Pink Round to raise awareness, demonstrate their support and contribute to the fight against breast cancer.
Every day in Australia, approximately 57 people are diagnosed with breast cancer, amounting to more than 20,300 new cases each year. Behind every statistic is a person whose life, family and community have been affected. These people are mothers, sisters, friends, teachers and members of communities just like ours.
Students and staff were encouraged to purchase a pair of pink socks and wear them during their winter sporting fixtures this week. While purchasing and wearing a pair of socks may appear to be a small gesture, when hundreds of people participate, it becomes something far more meaningful. It sends a visible message of support to those affected by breast cancer and demonstrates the difference that can be made when our community comes together behind an important cause.
Another exciting moment this week was the reveal of the theme for the 2026 Blue & White Formal: A Sky Full of Stars.
Over recent months, Henry and I have worked closely with Mrs Bianca Harms, St Peter’s College’s Community Engagement and Events Officer, to develop ideas and select a theme that will create a memorable atmosphere for the evening.
The Blue & White is always an important occasion for the Years 11 and 12 cohorts, bringing both year levels together to celebrate their friendships and shared experiences.
We are incredibly excited to see A Sky Full of Stars come to life and look forward to an evening that encapsulates the conclusion of a brilliant year for both cohorts, particularly the graduating Class of 2026.
