Winter Intercol is always one of the most anticipated weeks on the school calendar, and this year certainly lived up to that expectation. From Wednesday through to Saturday, the chants, colours, crowds and competition created an atmosphere that makes Intercol such a special part of life at SPSC.
What stood out most was the way our community got behind one another. Whether competing, leading chants, standing on the sidelines or simply staying after school to support mates, everyone had a role to play. That collective energy reflects the brotherhood and culture of SPSC and reminds us that Intercol is about far more than results.
The week also carries a strong sense of history and tradition. Generations of students have competed in these fixtures and experienced the same nerves, excitement and pride. It was a privilege for us to add another chapter to that history in 2026.
For the Year 12 students, this Intercol meant even more as our final one. While we may not remember every score in years to come, we will remember the people beside us, the atmosphere and the feeling of representing SPSC one last time. Thank you to everyone who made Winter Intercol 2026 such a memorable week.
It was also a privilege to attend my fifth and final Short House Dinner earlier this week. These events are always a great opportunity to reconnect with old scholars, parents, staff and special guests, while celebrating the community and traditions that make Short House such an important part of school life for myself, and many others.
Finally, I look forward to the upcoming Father’s Day Breakfast on Friday 4 September, and another great opportunity to bring our school community together.
